Monday, 8.28 Begin Court Case Debate!

What court case had the most impact on high school journalism?

Today's plan:

1. Check bracket here for the schedule for the week
2. Finish your Game Plan--shared through Google Classroom. Will be checked for a grade before your debate on Tuesday.
3. Make a list of your 5-6 main points
4. Make a list of your opponent's weaknesses
5. Figure out what you're going to say during your time
6. Grade for your debate is based on how prepared/organized you are, not on whether you win or lose!

Time frame for Tuesday's first round:
        1 minute Lower Seed
        1 minute Higher Seed
        30 Second Halftime
        30 Seconds Lower Seed
        30 Seconds Higher Seed
VOTE on team who won, NOT who your friends are.

Remember--What court case had the most impact on high school journalism?-- that's the ultimate question you are trying to prove

Tuesday, 8.22: First Amendment

The first unit we will study is Press Freedom. We will start today with the first amendment, and study it for a couple days.

First assignment--Memorize the First Amendment.  I have cards to give you, and you MUST have it memorized by Friday, September 1. Extra credit to the person who says it first in front of the class. You are not required to say it in front of the class; you can say it to just me privately before school, in passing periods, after school, during lunch...whatever is easiest for you. So....memorize First Amendment by Friday, September1.

Today, you will take a quiz over the First Amendment. I don't expect you to do well, especially if this is the first time you are seeing this stuff. So take the quiz here, do the best you can, and let me know when you are finished and what your score was.

Once everyone is finished, you will be divided into groups into research a few of the questions and present to the class on Wednesday as we review.

First Amendment Quiz is on Thursday.
